Women who rail against feminism, like those at IWF, work hard to present themselves as “pure,” whether it’s through promoting abstinence-only education and decrying hookup culture or kowtowing to conservative men’s agenda for women. It’s a survival technique: If they can paint other women as “impure.” then they’re safe from criticism. It’s a lot easier to attack other women, after all, than it is to attack a sexist society.— Jessica Valenti, The Putity Myth (via passions-misgivings-wants) It’s cute that feminists, like Jessica Valenti, like to erase women’s problems with the feminist movement by labeling them as stuck-up, conservative prudes. To all you non-virgin, non-white, trans, lesbian, bisexual, and otherwise politically aligned women that disagree with the sexism inherent within the feminist movement: Your voice doesn’t matter. You’re really just straight, white, conservative virgins trying to please men with your internalized misogyny. For as much as feminists complain about not liking the stereotyping of women, they sure are good at stereotyping women that don’t agree with them.
